Volcanoes? Remember our vacation motto "If there is no chance of mortal danger, then it is not a vacation" . . . well for this adventure we will hike four volcanoes in southern Italy! On our last hike we asked our guide which hiking trip was his absolute favorite, his immediate response was the Volcanoes of Southern Italy! So we gathered 7 of our friends and said "let's do this!"
We leave next Saturday and arrive in Rome on 7:30am Easter morning! We will then take a train to Naples where we will meet the rest of our group. The four volcanoes we will hike are Vesuvius, Stromboli, Vulcano (where all volcanoes get their name) and finally Mt. Etna! Highlights of the trip will be a visit to Pompeii and an late afternoon hike to to the summit of Stromboli where we will watch (and feel) the red lava fountains erupt against the dark sky! I am sure each day will have its own set of highlights that I will share through this blog!
We are very much looking forward to this exciting trip! So I am off to start packing and get ready for another adventure!
